A Christmas Carol

This holiday season, the Oregon Cabaret Theatre brings a brand new version of Charles Dickens’ holiday classic to life in a steampunk-inspired, neo-Victorian setting. Adapted by Managing Director Rick Robinson and directed by Artistic Director Valerie Rachelle, the OCT team aims to give you A Christmas Carol like you’ve never seen it before – in a fantastical setting, with an emphasis on the ghost story elements from the original text.

One of the most beloved holiday stories ever told, A Christmas Carol is the beautiful, haunting tale of that fateful Christmas Eve when miserly curmudgeon Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by his old business partner Jacob Marley. Scrooge is told to expect three spirits to haunt him – spirits of Christmas past, present, and future – intended to set Ebenezer on the unlikely path to redemption.

The adult cast features local favorites John Leistner as Ebeneezer Scrooge, Jessica Blaszak as Mrs. Cratchit, Scott Ford as the Ghost of Christmas Present, and Stephen Kline as Marley’s Ghost. Newcomer Vanessa Ballam (Utah Shakespeare Festival, Utah Festival Opera, and PCPA) plays Belle and her husband Stefan Espinosa (Utah Festival Opera, PCPA) plays Bob Cratchit. Recent Southern Oregon University grads Patrick and Beth St. John also make their debut, playing Fred and the Ghost of Christmas Past, respectively. The juvenile cast features Will Ransom, Brynn Traynor, Ella Robinson (daughter of Rick and Valerie), Nico Moore, and Sebastian Espinosa (son of cast members Vanessa and Stefan).

A CHRISTMAS CAROL opens on Friday, November 20th and runs through Thursday, December 31st, 2015, with a low-priced Preview on Thursday, November 19th. Saturday and Sunday matinees begin at 1pm and evening performances begin at 8pm on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with Tuesday evening performances on 11/24, 12/22, and 12/29.
