Camelot Theatre Company continues its 2014 Mainstage season with the Pulitzer Prize Winning dramatic comedy by Neil Simon: “Lost in Yonkers”

Camelot is thrilled to be presenting what the New York Post called the best play ever written by America’s great comic playwright, Neil Simon! Winner of the 1991 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 1991 Tony Award for Best Play, “Lost in Yonkers” is a memory play set in 1942. Bella is 35, mentally challenged and living at home with her mother, stern Grandma Kurnitz. As the play opens, ne’er-do-well son Eddie deposits his two young sons on the old lady’s doorstep. He is financially strapped and taking to the road as a salesman. The boys are left to contend with quirky Aunt Bella and her secret romance, her brother Louie, a small-time hoodlum, and the indomitable Grandma Kurnitz in a strange new world called Yonkers.

Camelot’s production of “Lost in Yonkers” is directed by Susan E. Aversa and stars Kristie Abart as Grandma Kurnitz, Marlena Gray as Aunt Bella, Leo Pierotti as Arty Kurnitz, Reese Rush as Jay Kurnitz and Roy Von Rains, Jr. as Uncle Louie, with AJ Falk as Eddie Kurnitz and Kathleen Marrs as Aunt Gert.

The production team for “Lost in Yonkers” includes Camelot’s resident designers: properties mistress Ella Nelson, Brian O’Connor, Sound and audio/video designer; set designer Don Zastoupil and lighting designer Paul R. Jones. Costume design is by Addie Hall-Kester with Wigs by Virginia Carol Hudson. Stage Manager Obed Messina heads up the technical team of Joey Lorimer (light board operator) and Lindee Newman (sound/video board operator).

“Lost in Yonkers” previews May 7th and 8th, opens May 9th and runs through June 1. The Wednesday, May 7th 8 p.m. performance is a fundraiser for Hope Equestrian. Tickets for that performance are $25, all fees included. Tickets for the Thursday preview are $12. There is a special Pay What You Can performance on Wednesday, May 14 at 8 p.m.

Reservations are definitely recommended. Regular performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays @ 2 p.m. Tickets are $23 for students and seniors (except for Sunday matinees) and $25 for Adults. Reserved seating is available for $2/ticket. There is a box office fee of $4 for all orders.
