In a post-apocalyptic era, can one man save the world?
This production is set in the increasingly violent 21st Century after a nuclear holocaust. With society hanging on and looking for something to believe in, Jesus’ radical teachings are fervently embraced. Judas increasingly questions the enlightened motives of this new prophet, resulting in betrayal. Christ’s final days are dramatized with emotional intensity, thought-provoking edge and explosive theatricality. Propelled by a stirring score, by turns driving and majestic, satirical and tender, “Jesus Christ Superstar” illuminates the transcendent power of the human spirit with a passion that goes straight to the heart!
“Jesus Christ Superstar” runs June 24th through August 2nd and features music by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. Directed by Camelot’s Artistic Director Livia Genise, “Jesus Christ Superstar” features choreography by Audrey Flint & Rebecca K. Campbell and musical direction by Michael Wing.
