Brian Sjothun, Medford Parks & Recreation Director

Friday, September 11th at the Medfor Red Lion Inn

  

Brian is showing that you can stimulate the local economy and have fun doing it. 
  
He has coordinated capital improvement projects in excess of $26 million, and he has helped cultivate over $700,000 for facility naming rights, including a six-year deal involving U.S. Cellular Community Community Park. During his first four years, he coordinated grant applications that resulted in over $1 million in funding for facilities and programs.
  

Presentation – Economic Impact of the Sports Park – will begin approximately at 12:30.

SPEAKER BIO: Brian Sjothun, 45, is in his fifth year as Medford Parks & Recreation Director, and he is presiding over a period of rapid growth in facilities and programming. Prior to his arrival in Medford, Sjothun spent 16 years with the Woodburn (Ore.) Recreation & Parks Department, including eight years as Recreation Services Director. He was a 1999 Woodburn Junior First Citizen award winner. Sjothun holds national parks and recreation certification (CPRP), and he is a Oregon Parks & Recreation Association board member. The former Woodburn High School basketball coach was the 1995 Oregon AAU Volunteer of the Year and the organization’s girls basketball chairman from 1994 to 1996.
