The following are excerpts from an article on SFGate.com by Story Studio
“E-bikes disrupt the very idea of bike riding, providing an unbelievably easy way to climb hills, commute to work, and, for some adventurous souls, even camp in Half Moon Bay. That isn’t to say riding an e-bike doesn’t offer exercise. It’s just that you get to decide when to pedal and when to get assisted by the e-bike motor.
Naturally an e-bike offers all the benefits of a traditional two-wheeler. Traffic jams disappear, as do the hours spent searching for parking. The time savings alone often more than compensates for the price of an e-bike. Don’t forget to throw the cost of gas, or lack thereof, into the equation. Because e-bikes take on as much or as little work as you wish, you arrive at work or a lunch date free of sweat and (because you haven’t had to hunt for parking) stress. You can also skip the workout clothes and arrive ready for the workday or dinner reservation.
The electric-bike revolution has seen its greatest growth among people who don’t consider themselves active cyclists. Many new e-bike riders haven’t even been on a bike for years. Some haven’t pedaled since childhood and assumed they’d never ride again. Less-seasoned riders feel in complete control because the bikes travel at safe speeds and are easy to maneuver. Braking is also completely intuitive and safe. E-bike users are discovering an entire world of outdoor recreation, a benefit of their increased mobility. More time spent outdoors is often a direct result of buying an e-bike.
Bike riding is among the first activities many people relinquish as they enter middle age. The prospect of being stuck on an uphill climb, ending up out too great a distance, or even arriving disheveled to work leads to us to avoid one of the healthiest activities. The electric bike restores our confidence, saves energy and reduces fossil fuel use, and, best of all, makes bike riding fun again.”
So, there you have it once again from yet another source besides me. The ebike revolution is firmly underway; time to jump in and enjoy the ride!
