All proceeds from the Book Shop benefit the RVML Community Resource Center, a 501c3 nonprofit organization established in Ashland in 2002. RVML’s Mission: “Providing easy access to information that inspires, heals and transforms.” The Resource Center provides three distinct services to the community; event production, our free media exchange and our unique lending-library.

Rouge Valley Metaphysical Library (RVML) is a specialty lending-library with a well-organized collection of spiritual, metaphysical, paranormal and personal development subjects. Currently, the lending collection has nearly 10,000 books, DVDs and audiobooks, with about 100 new titles added monthly. A small annual fee enables unlimited borrowing for up to four people. We also lend A/V equipment, and extend borrowing privileges to researchers and educators worldwide (inquire about our Distance Lending Program).

Free Source Book & Media Exchange is a donation-based, informal exchange system with a huge collection of books, audiobooks, DVDs and videos on all subjects, fiction and non-fiction. We are southern Oregon’s original “free book store” where you can exchange your books and media at no cost. The Media Exchange was established in 2006 as a way for people to share abundance with their community, and is a great supplement to the library and event production services offered by RVML. We have an extensive selection of children’s books, home schooling titles, and of course personal development and spiritual-metaphysical sections. The Media Exchange collection is very dynamic, with hundreds of new titles added every week.

Tax-deductible donations of books, DVDs and CDs always welcome – any subject, any condition. There is a 24-hour donation box located on the sidewalk-side of the building for your convenience.

Our new interactive website has complete information about RVML’s services, an event announcement e-mail list and a full-function search tool for online browsing of our lending collection.

Ashland Artisan Emporium

The Ashland Artisan Emporium is owned by Michelle Christian, wife and mother of 3 daughters. Her husband, Travis, is the business manager for Adroit Construction in Ashland, Oregon. The Emporium was the vision of Michael Rydbom, Michelle's father. In April of 2010, Michael asked his daughter if she would be willing to help transform the old DJ's Video space into a crafter's marketplace. Michelle had always admired her dad's entrepreneurial spirit and was eager to make him proud, so even though she already had two kids, a real estate career and one more daughter on the way, she said yes. On November 1, 2010, the store opened it's doors to a welcome reception from the community. They were voted Best New Business of 2010 only months later by the Ashland Sneak Preview. Within weeks of opening, the store was at capacity and had quickly become the "go-to" store for all things unique and affordable.
