Camelot Theatre Company Opens its 2016 Season with the Grammy Award-Winning Duo “Spotlight on Simon & Garfunkel!”
“Feelin’ Groovy: Spotlight On Simon & Garfunkel”
January 14 – 24, 2016
“Music is forever; music should grow and mature with you, following you right on up until you die.” ~ Paul Simon
“Everything worth doing starts with being scared.” ~ Art Garfunkel
While the 1960’s brought some incredible folk and rock musicians to the airwaves of America (Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Byrds), none had quite the impact of the two boys from Queens, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. Both had beautiful voices and both brought their own particular brand of creativity to their music. Their relationship, breakups and reunions made the papers, and their music touched our hearts and continues to evoke the memories and feelings of our youth.
With direction by Presila Quinby, a script by Catherine Noah, musical arrangements and direction by Don Harriss, and starring Camelot regulars Erik Connolly and David King-Gabriel, “Spotlight on Simon & Garfunkel” features a little biography… and a lot of music! Joining Don Harriss (Piano/Synthesizer) are Rogue Valley musicians Jef Fretwell (Guitars), Steve Fain (Bass) and Steve Sutfin (Percussion). Narrated by Renee Hewitt, the “Spotlight on Simon & Garfunkel” song list includes “The Sound of Silence,” “I Am A Rock,” “Mrs. Robinson” and “Scarborough Fair/Canticle.”
