Greetings from Booth #156!

We are Jay and Sue Newman, the proud proprietors of NewmanImages Photography. We specialize in high-quality nature photography. It’s been an honor having a booth at the Emporium. We’ve been here since it opened in 2010. (Time sure flies!)

This month is our annual spring sale! Everything is 15% off through the end of May. You’ll find greeting cards, prints, matted prints, framed prints, and canvas wraps. Something for every price range, and lots of bright colors to brighten any room in your home or office. To find the NewmanImages booth, take a right when you walk in to the Emporium—go to the second-to-the-last row, we’re the first booth on the right. We also have some images on the wall near the front register.

Our mission as photographers: to see beyond the typical “postcard pic” and capture unique and memorable images that you’ll never tire of looking at. We have Ashland covered in all four seasons, from downtown to Lithia Park to the surrounding countryside. Plus hundreds of images of the Rogue Valley and wherever else our travels take us—including breathtaking views of four of the most jaw-dropping spots on earth: Crater Lake, Mt. Shasta, the California Redwoods and the Oregon Coast.

We also have a huge collection of nature close-ups: flower blooms of every color along with fungi, frogs, birds, bees, butterflies, turtles, praying mantises, Buddhas and other beasties and oddities that we’ve discovered on our wanderings. (There’s even a framed print of a cute little grub that, for some reason, hasn’t sold yet. We’re confident that one day, someone will see that grub pic and say, “That needs to go on my wall!”)

To see more of our photography, search for NewmanImages on Facebook, Smugmug and Twitter. We’re also quite proud to have several of our images included in the coffee table photo books Ashland, Oregon and Ashland, Oregon—Day Trips by Barbara Tricarico.

And finally, if you’ve never been to the Emporium, you really have to check it out. There are more than 100 booths; each one is a little treasure hunt. You’ll find all sorts of trinkets and antiques, plus handmade art, clothing, jewelry, collectibles, books, movies, music, furniture, antiques, and tons of other surprises—including the prettiest little photography booth in all of Ashland!

Ashland Artisan Emporium

The Ashland Artisan Emporium is owned by Michelle Christian, wife and mother of 3 daughters. Her husband, Travis, is the business manager for Adroit Construction in Ashland, Oregon. The Emporium was the vision of Michael Rydbom, Michelle's father. In April of 2010, Michael asked his daughter if she would be willing to help transform the old DJ's Video space into a crafter's marketplace. Michelle had always admired her dad's entrepreneurial spirit and was eager to make him proud, so even though she already had two kids, a real estate career and one more daughter on the way, she said yes. On November 1, 2010, the store opened it's doors to a welcome reception from the community. They were voted Best New Business of 2010 only months later by the Ashland Sneak Preview. Within weeks of opening, the store was at capacity and had quickly become the "go-to" store for all things unique and affordable.
