1. What type of management style would you bring as the new Mayor of Ashland and how would you specifically work with City Council?

I am an advocate of a strong Mayor who, by Charter definition, is the CEO of the city and the leader of the City Council. As such, it would be incumbent upon me to maintain fairness and create a  harmonious and respectful relationship among the council members so that the legislated of the city is accomplished  in a timely fashion and staff  can carry out the policy directives. It is important that the Mayor and members of the council keep in mind that there is a distinct difference between  legislative and administrative responsibilities. I will work closely with the City Administrator and the Finance Director to be sure that the budget is under control. In difficult times, as we are experiencing at present, it  is imperative that adjustments be made in spending that reflect the drop in revenue due to circumstances in the national economy.
