Reincarnation is based on the concept of karma. We live over and over again in order to repay our karmic debts and to learn. For instance, we may have purposely killed someone in a previous lifetime and in this lifetime we experience the death of someone close to us. We cannot escape the justice of karma. Every religion out there has some sort of “Golden Rule,” which states, “do unto others as you would have done unto you.” A better definition would be, “what you do unto others will be done unto you.”
Karma rewards and punishes. It is a multi-life debit and credit system that offers total justice. Now, to bring some of this awareness together, if I pick up a stone and toss it into a pond, I am the cause and the effect is the splash and ripples. I have disturbed the harmony of the pond. The ripples flow out and back until, due to the physical law of dissipation of energy, the pond eventually returns to its original harmonious state.
Like the ripples, your thoughts, words and actions create vibrations that flow out into the universe and back to you until eventually, over many lifetimes, you balance your karma and your harmony is restored. Everything you think, say and do creates or erases karma. And, as if that’s not enough to deal with, this includes the motive, intent and desire behind every thought, word and action.
I contend that wisdom erases karma and that we can lessen karmic discomforts through awareness. Knowledge of past lives can help us to better understand that which influences, restricts or motivates us in the present. Sometimes, just knowing the cause of the problem resolves the effect.
In past life regression therapy, clients go back to a previous life that has the greatest karmic influence on their current life. Many fears, phobias, emotional issues and chronic pain issues, to name a few, disappear once the client has knowledge of the cause and therefore can heal it during therapy.
A wonderful example of healing chronic pain through past life regression follows: Brenda developed trigeminal neuralgia, also known as the suicide disease, in her late 30’s. For those who don’t know what this is, she felt like someone was hammering an ice pick into her temples. There were no meds out there that provided relief. She turned to hypnotherapy. She went back to a past life where she was a male in the 1920’s and had just bought a new motorcycle. She and her buddy were taking it out for a spin. Out of nowhere, a tree branch appeared;, she was able to duck and miss it, whereas her friend on the back got hit in the head and died instantly. She brought the guilt of killing her friend into this lifetime and it manifested as this painful disease. In hypnosis, she was able to heal this traumatic past life event and, since then, never had another attack.
