KSKQ Community Radio – By the People For the People An Invitation to Non-Profits

KSKQ has worked with countless local and national non-profits to create informative and timely content, including interviews, news collaborations, announcements and live streaming of events. While the Multicultural Association of Southern Oregon holds the radio license, KSKQ has worked for years with Kids Unlimited Charter Academy in Medford, the Jackson County Fuel Committee in Phoenix, Klamath-Siskiyou Wildlands Center in Ashland, and Rogue Valley Farm to School throughout Jackson County. KSKQ has also worked with ACCESS Food Share, the Ashland and Medford Food Project, ScienceWorks Museum, Rogue Farm Corps, The Maslow Project, and La Clinica. Giving these non-profits access to portable recording equipment, studio space, and time with professional volunteer engineers and teachers allows KSKQ to teach the skills while spreading the news of local successes.

Volunteer producer David Tourzan initiated KSKQ’s Kids Unlimited Weekly News that runs for 12 weeks in the Fall and includes bilingual content. Students choose topics, then interview their peers, and edit it to make short, entertaining, and touching radio pieces. David also works with the Ashland High School Debate Team to create their weekly radio speeches on timely topics like Afrofuturism, vaping, and dress coding your mother.

KSKQ live streams and sponsors local events. KSKQ provides mentorships to students, supplies recording equipment for announcements and community projects, and encourages diverse viewpoints. These opportunities not only strengthen KSKQ’s mission to be the people’s voice in the valley, but it also empowers students and families to know their voices are important and powerful. KSKQ is always open to increased collaborations with schools and community groups and values their unique stories.

KSKQ would like to invite all non-profit groups to have their benefit event announced on the Community Radio Station, 89.5 fm / 94.1 fm. Then please contact KSKQ via the website kskq.org, phone 541-482-3999 or visit the studio at 330 E. Hersey Street, Ashland OR 97520.
