Manzanita on Main

Have you noticed Manzanita, the new shop located where the Blue Heron Gallery was for many years, nestled between Thai Pepper and Agave, and next to the new Spice and Tea Exchange?  I know many of you have.  I am thrilled with the response of local people to this new venture of mine.  I am LouAnn David, owner of Flower Tyme on the Plaza, and when people hear that I have opened another shop they ask me, “Why would you open another store just a half block away from Flower Tyme?”  It sounds crazy to some until they walk into Manzanita and instantly see the difference between the two shops.

Flower Tyme is a whimsical, eclectic riot of color focusing on cards, books, home and garden accents, women’s scarves, jewelry, and, of course, fresh flowers.  There you can find colorful Gurgle Pots, a water pitcher that really gurgles when you pour water; Firefly jewelry from Guatemala using vibrantly colored Swarovski crystals; richly glowing Tiffany-style lamps; charming garden gnomes; and during this season, there are several trees laden with hundreds of Christmas ornaments and novelty lights.

Manzanita is a calmer, earthier collection of home accessories and gifts with a focus on works from American and Canadian craftsmen, as well as works from around the world.  You will find a wonderful line of pottery from Pennsylvania that is beautifully designed with a crystalline glaze where each piece has its own personality.  You’ll find metallic wall mirrors and sculptures from Canada with a nature theme and mango wood serving bowls from Thailand.  Nature is a recurring theme in Manzanita found in lamps, coasters, cotton throws, pillows, and even in the Christmas ornaments we chose.

Manzanita has a great assortment of Tillandsias, also known as air plants, with shells and bowls to inhabit them, and a nice selection of succulents for planting indoor gardens.  One of Manzanita’s biggest hits is a rustic table fountain featuring two crows spouting water through their beaks.  Our customers are also loving our line of thoughtfully designed luggage, Lug, and BaaBaa Zuzu, a collection of winter hats, scarves, gloves, and bags using wool from repurposed wool suits and lined in fleece.

So if you are wanting to spice up your Ashland holiday shopping experience, walk the extra block north of the plaza and discover …or rediscover…Manzanita on Main…. either before or after experiencing the instant holiday spirit you will find at Flower Tyme on the Plaza, just a half block away.
