Miguels

Miguel’s is a family style Mexican restaurant located on Clover lane next to the Holiday Inn. I was pleased to see a very nice and understated décor featuring a small thatched roof bar in the middle surrounded by tables with a few scene depictions on the walls. It’s hard to believe this was last a rock n roll diner. The Manager, who was serving us that evening, was quite pleasant and very personable. We appreciated his attentiveness and service.

Let’s start with the bar. The strawberry margarita was way too yummy; not overly sweet and a nice berry flavor and a great kick – WOW! They were also gracious enough to give me an extra plate of limes for my drink which I appreciated. They have a colossal selection of margarita flavors, some of which I have never even thought of! They also have a tasty looking non margarita drink menu. I will definitely go back there for happy hour.

The dinner menu is extensive and serves authentic dishes featuring lamb, seafood, chicken and steak as well as vegetarian options. There is also a large salad selection that looked well worth going back for at another time.

My husband had the Asada burrito brimming with succulent steak sliced thin and all the usual trimmings. It was delicious without a doubt, but in my opinion, was no match for my Enchilada, Chimichanga combo. The enchilada was filled with shredded beef that was obviously slow cooked to perfection with a nice rich yet not overpowering sauce. The Chimichanga was filled with huge chunks of lean pork that were absolutely amazing in taste and very tender. Together it was a perfect meal however it was quite a lot and I would suggest it be made a meal for two, unless you like leftovers. At the end of our meal we had a little treat consisting of a fried tortilla wedge sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar a mini scoop of vanilla ice cream and a strawberry sauce drizzled over it. It was the perfect end to a delightful meal. Oh yeah, my husband (the flan snob) ordered one to go and all he had to say when he ate it was Ooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Apparently, he enjoyed every drop; he wished he has ordered two.

Since we enjoyed it so much the first time, we placed a to-go order over the hectic holidays. We ordered a taquitos appetizer, shrimp fajitas, and a quesadilla for our son. We split everything, and it was all delicious but I must say, the shrimp fajitas were exceedingly good. The shrimp were sweet, moist, and plump as well as full of flavor. The carmalization of the onions and peppers were perfect, not too sweet but not charred either. It was again a wonderful meal. I will definitely go back and bring family and friends.
