Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is not just great for your health but also for your dogs and cats. Wellness Pet Supplies carries not only virgin coconut oil but therapeutic grade coconut oil and treats. Not all coconut oils are created equal. There are three grades of coconut oil; cooking grade, cosmetic grade and therapeutic grade. You can find cooking and cosmetic grade in your local grocery stores but not therapeutic grade. Therapeutic grade has a higher lauric acid content, low moisture content (means a more stable oil) and higher amounts of caprylic acid & capric acid. The health benefits of these components are;

-Reduces allergic reactions & supports skin and coat health

-Supports healthy immune system and immune response to foreign microbes

-Supports healthy thyroid function and metabolic function for optimum weight levels

-Supports gastrointestinal and digestive health

-Provides anti-oxidant protection to support healthy cells and cellular function

-Provides easily digested source of energy

Virgin coconut oil is comprised mainly of a Medium Chain Fatty Acid (MCFA), called Lauric acid, which supports healthy metablolism.

One of the brands we carry is Coco Therapy Organic Virgin Coconut Oil made from the freshest organically grown coconuts from their family owned USDA certified organic coconut farm. It is guaranteed human-grade, 100% pure and natural:

-Harvested ripe (12 months old)

-Processed within hours of harvesting

-Non-GMO certified

-Organic certified

-Cold pressed under 115 degrees

-Hexane-free

-Unrefined

-Raw

-Non-bleached

-No trans fat

-No hydrogenated fat

There are a dozen ways to make coconut oil. The type and age of the coconut used, and process and care used in the process determines the final quality of the product, and the purpose of the product (for cosmetic, food, or therapeutic use). For instance Virgin coconut oil may still be labeled as “Virgin” even though it has been partially refined. Also with coconut oil there is no such thing as Extra virgin. They may be labeled organic even if they contain up to 10% non organic or GMO coconuts.

So how can you be sure that the coconut oil you and your pets are consuming is SAFE and the highest quality available for therapeutic benefits? Call the company and ask them, we did.
