Camelot continues its critically acclaimed season with Spotlight on Carole King.
Carole King, as a teenage songwriter, was the remarkable force behind an astonishing number of top hits recorded by others in the 1960’s, including “One Fine Day,” “Take Good Care of My Baby” and “The Locomotion.” She became a household name in 1970 when she began singing her own songs. Her landmark album “Tapestry” stayed in the #1 spot on the charts for an incredible 15 weeks. Despite her success as a millionaire musical artist, author, and activist, Carole would have numerous difficulties in her private life. Although she often wrote and sang about hearth and home, it would take her most of her life to find it for herself. Featured songs include, “You’ve Got A Friend,” “It’s Too Late,” “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” and “I Feel The Earth Move.”
This musical spotlight stars Gayle Wilson with a script by Wilson, musical arrangements by Brent Olstad, and direction by Presila Quinby.
Joining Wilson on duets such as “Up on the Roof” and “Crying in the Rain” and also playing lead guitar is Dave Bernard. Spotlight on Carole King also features Olstad on piano, Michael Vannice on wind instruments, Steve Fain on bass and Steve Sutfin on drums. In addition to singing backup vocals, Rose Passione and Karen Cooke will narrate Carole King’s amazing life story. For tickets, call 541.535.5250 or visit our website.
