Supporting Our Shopping Addiction

My team and I share a passion for finding remarkable treasures at affordable prices. Nothing lights up our day more than finding something beautiful to wear, or to put in our homes, amongst the many aisles here at the Emporium. Usually the prices of these things can’t be beat! And trust me, I shop everywhere!  From the big chain stores, to the small boutiques, consignment stores, online, Etsy, ebay – there is nothing quite like the vast collection of treasures we have here.  And it just feels better to keep our dollars local.

We all love working together, because mostly, we support each other’s shopping habit. Isn’t it more fun to shop with friends? I have scored designer jeans at amazing prices. I have been overjoyed by handmade bulletin boards and laughed with glee over some amazing jewelry. If you have met our manager, Becky, you know she has an amazing ability to put together a killer outfit. On any given day she is sporting a least one item from our store.

I am amazed every day by some of the stuff that comes through our door, and it just keeps coming! Our store is so unique in this way – I don’t choose any of the things that come in, but instead rely solely on our local community to produce our inventory.  When we opened this store, we didn’t know what to expect, but the community has far exceeded our expectations.  I couldn’t do any of this without the support of our local vendors, and to them I want to express my sincere appreciation!

This month, some of my favorite acquisitions: pink dog bed $18 (we have a new puppy), french porcelain bottle with cork  $11 (love the French chic vibe), Joe’s skinny jeans with ankle zippers $15 (my favorite brand),  handmade baby barrettes with clip strip $10 (baby shower gift), and a pair of Born flats $20 (my 10 year old just discovered she can wear women’s size 6)!

If you enjoy bargain shopping and supporting your local vendors, come see us!! We are happy to share our passion for finding “just the right thing”! We are open every day!

Ashland Artisan Emporium

The Ashland Artisan Emporium is owned by Michelle Christian, wife and mother of 3 daughters. Her husband, Travis, is the business manager for Adroit Construction in Ashland, Oregon. The Emporium was the vision of Michael Rydbom, Michelle's father. In April of 2010, Michael asked his daughter if she would be willing to help transform the old DJ's Video space into a crafter's marketplace. Michelle had always admired her dad's entrepreneurial spirit and was eager to make him proud, so even though she already had two kids, a real estate career and one more daughter on the way, she said yes. On November 1, 2010, the store opened it's doors to a welcome reception from the community. They were voted Best New Business of 2010 only months later by the Ashland Sneak Preview. Within weeks of opening, the store was at capacity and had quickly become the "go-to" store for all things unique and affordable.
