Coming in January! The Portal Games
Kick off 2014 with the first of the monthly Portal Games.  The Portal Games are The Secret Book Club’s community-wide Treasure Hunt into the Secret World. When The Secret Book Club kids opened the Time Travel Portal at Ashland Springs Hotel in 2013, they discovered the Time Travel Artifact. January’s 31-day Time Turning Device is available at TreeHouse Books and can be used to set your intentions (aka resolutions) and play your way to the best January ever. Stop by TreeHouse to get yours now!

TreeHouse Golden Acorn List for December:

Starlight Sailor, by James Mayhew, Illustrated by Jackie Morris – Boardbook for ages 2-5. A gentle bedtime story of a boy in a paper sailboat, dreaming of magical creatures.  Published by Barefoot Books, one of our favorite publishers.
Dream Animals – A Bedtime Journey, by Emily Winfield Martin – ages 2-5 Gorgeous illustrations of children and all manner of creatures from air, land and sea.  Emily lives in Portland, Oregon.
The Festival of Stones ~ Autumn and Winter Tales of Tiptoes Lightly, by Reg Down – ages 5 and up. “Capturing the inner mood of nature during autumn and winter, these lavishly illustrated tales are reverent, humorous and sacred.” (publisher quote)
The Time Fetch, by Amy Herrick – ages 9-12 A perfect blend of fantasy and science for the Winter Solstice.  A magical tale of time & space, friendship, and adventure!  We love this book!
Fangirl, by Rainbow Rowell – ages 13-18 A coming-of-age story about a girl who loves to write fan fiction.  If you liked Eleanor & Park by this author, you’ll love this one too like we do!
The Divergent Series, by Veronica Roth – ages 14-17 An intelligent distopian story that examines courage, family, honesty, compassion, loyalty, and what it means to be human. – TreeHouse Wizard & Co-owner Dirk’s pick.
