Soon it will be your wedding day. You have devoted weeks, months and sometimes years of planning. When the day arrives, it will be the shortest, longest day of your life, so relax and enjoy it.
When the ring goes on the finger, butterflies go to the stomach and joy goes to your heart. Everyone wants to tell you what they did and what everyone they ever knew did when they got married. Just remember, this is your day and you can do it all your way.
The best advise I can offer is just keep it simple and remember the reasons why you are getting married. When I meet with my brides I always suggest they put down the books, magazines, notes and everyone else’s ideas. All that wonderful information now becomes your inspiration for your own ideas as you create your perfect wedding. It is your wedding day and it is all about you, the one you love and your union together!
This is a day you’ve been dreaming about for a long time, probably since you were a young girl. What have your dreams been for your special wedding day? There are so many choices. Will you have a formal wedding reception with tray passed hors d’oeuvres, champagne and a sit down dinner? Or perhaps your vision is one of a more free-flowing wedding reception with a buffet, bar and, of course, music and dancing.
The vision is all yours and the possibilities are limitless. Your planning will involve many options which include the style of your wedding gown, how you will style your hair and make-up, the number of bridesmaids and who they will be, deciding if there will be a flower girl and ring bearer. You will decide on the over-all color theme and the kind of flowers to express your individual personality. You will select linen for your reception, a ceremony location, and invitations. There are options for your transportation to consider, such as horse and carriage, vintage car etc. You will have the choice between music with a DJ or a live band. There are many possibilities to consider for your food and bar. And last but not least, your all-important photographer to capture all of the wonderful, sweet, sometimes wacky and most importantly joyful moments of this, your very special day.
Once you have your location you can build from there. Your location is your canvas on which you add your colors, style and flavor. Having your ceremony in an outdoor setting allows Mother Nature to assist in your décor and often sets the tone for the entire planning of your day. Having your reception inside allows your guests the best of both worlds as you dance into the night.
At Ashland Springs Hotel, we allow you to be a guest at your wedding, enjoying the fruits of your passion for the perfect day. We have a host of wedding professionals to help you plan your wedding, which include our Executive Chef and his team to create a sumptuous dining experience.
I suggest you have a detailed agenda of your wedding weekend so your bridal party will know where they need to be and what time they need to be there. This will give you peace of mind to know that everyone is on the same page and assist in making this your perfect, stress-free day.
The day before your wedding, we have your ceremony rehearsal which takes about an hour and then you are off to your rehearsal dinner. Your rehearsal dinner is the time when both families get to know each other. It is a time for toasting and roasting, sharing family pictures and videos. Plan an early evening because tomorrow is your big day.
