Winter/Spring with Ashland Parks & Recreation

Our annual Ashland Community Bike Swap is fast approaching. Okay, it’s more than a month away (Sat, Apr 18), but there is something you can do now… Donate your unwanted bike or equipment! Did you know all donations are tax-deductible? From now until April 11 we are accepting donated bikes and bike equipment in good working condition. Drop yours off at Ashland Fire Station #1 at 455 Siskiyou Blvd or, for a pick-up, call 541.488.5340. Every donation means more bike safety classes for our community. Learn more at www.RVTD.org/bikeswap.

The Ashland Tennis & Fitness Club is hosting a “Family Tennis Festival” on Sunday, March 29, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. All ages and abilities are welcome… parents and kiddos too… it doesn’t matter if you are a novice or an expert, everyone is welcome. Go on down and check them out. They are located at 735 Jefferson Ave in Ashland. The festival will include tennis drills run by the pros, games and prizes! This will also be your chance to sign up for the summer Ashland Parks & Rec Tennis programs! For more information call ATFC at 541.482.4073 or visit www.ashlandtfc.org.

We are excited to launch a new Story Map that highlights the historic sites and features of Lithia Park. The map is available from our home page, www.AshlandParksandRec.org, or directly at gis.ashland.or.us/LithiaHistoric. The Story Map was created by Lea Richards, GIS Analyst for the City of Ashland. Did you know that the Butler-Perozzi Fountain came from the 1915 World’s Fair, or the Ashland Community Center was originally donated to the City by the Women’s Civic Club in the early 1900s? Take a moment to relax and enjoy this historical tour. Many thanks to the City of Ashland GIS Department, especially Lea Richards!

Change is in the air… Beginning with our Summer 2015 Recreation Guide coming out in April, we will no longer direct-mail our guide to EVERY Ashland and Talent household. If you would like to continue to receive a guide in your mailbox, please complete the online form at www.ashland.or.us/MailMyGuide, email us at parksinfo@ashland.or.us or give us a call at 541.488.5340. Online guides are always available at www.ashland.or.us/RecGuide.

Watch for FootGolf coming soon to the Oak Knoll Golf Course! Details at www.OakKnollGolf.org.

Ashland Parks And Recreation

The City of Ashland Parks & Recreation (APR) Department was established to provide recreational opportunities to improve the quality of life for area residents and visitors. Our goals are to strengthen the community fabric and sense of place for youth, adult, and visitor populations; to promote health and wellness; to foster human development; to increase cultural unity and to protect our valuable natural resources. APR meets these goals through preserving, maintaining, and enhancing our recreational facilities, parks, and open spaces while also coordinating engaging programs, classes, public events, and festivals.
