‘S WONDERFUL: The New Gershwin Musical

‘S WONDERFUL: The New Gershwin Musical is an intoxicating, all-singing, all-dancing show presenting the classic American music of the Gershwin Brothers.

Sons of Russian-Jewish immigrants, George & Ira Gershwin came to define the new direction of 20th century American music, capturing the terrific energy of the Jazz Age.  Their music continues to feel fresh and engaging today.

George was an eclectic musical genius.  His compositions include not only the huge number of theatre songs written with Ira but also full symphonies, concertos, and the opera Porgy & Bess.  All of this within the tragically short lifespan of 38 years.  Ira’s lyrics are known for their wit, cleverness and sophistication.

‘S WONDERFUL: The New Gershwin Musical is directed and choreographed by Jim Giancarlo.  The Musical Director is John Taylor who also plays piano for the show.  It contains dozens of songs by the Gershwin Brothers – including Soon, Nice Work If You Can Get It, I’ve Got A Crush On You, I Got Rhythm, Fascinating Rhythm, The Man I Love, A Foggy Day, Our Love Is Here To Stay, Funny FaceSomeone To Watch Over Me, Shall We Dance? and Embraceable You as well as music from Porgy & Bess, Rhapsody In Blue and An American In Paris.

What is unique about the show is that it is not a standard revue.  The songs flow through several mini-musicals set in different eras: New York City in 1928, New Orleans in 1957, Paris in 1939 and Hollywood in 1948, each telling its own story.  In addition to all of the beloved music the show also explodes with plenty of exciting dance.
