Students Invited to Imagine a New Vision for Humanity’s Future
COVID-19 has placed our collective future in question with the range of views from despair to hopefulness. This is particularly true among young people.
Students aged 14-18 living in Ashland and Talent, Oregon are invited to tell us what they think through an “Idea Contest” which awards cash prizes to six winners. Students will respond to the prompt “Imagine A New Vision for Humanity’s Future Now” by entering a 1000-word essay or artistic collage. Winners will be announced on Saturday, October 17, 2020, 4:00 pm at the Thalden Pavilion, SOU Campus, 155 Walker Ave, Ashland.
The 2020 IDEA CONTEST: WORDS & PICTURES features $2,000 in cash prizes shared by six winners in two categories, ESSAYS and COLLAGES. Each category has three winners: 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $300, and 3rd Place $200. The contest is open to students aged 14-18 living in Ashland and Talent Oregon and there is no entry fee. The prizes are made possible from a grant from the Marin Community Foundation.
This is the third Idea Contest organized by the Rogue Valley Metaphysical Library (RVML), in collaboration with the Ashland Culture of Peace Commission (ACPC) for 2020. “We are so excited about doing this contest again, and ACPC is a perfect match to partner with. There’s an amazing archive of the past contests on RVML’s website again now, which is exciting on its own! With the six cash prizes, we expect a lot of participation, and with this year’s prompt, we’re sure to get some incredible entries again. The timing is right to inspire youthful visionaries, and it’s a privilege to help incentivize this kind of creativity” said Jordan Pease, founder and executive director of RVML. “Please help us get the invitation out far and wide.”
Entry Deadline: Tuesday, September 29, 2020
