PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION…
Parks and Recreation Commissioners hold their regular business meeting the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Study Sessions are typically held the 1st Wednesday of the month (check the APRC public meeting calendar at AshlandParksandRec.org). Our Senior Services Division enhances the lives ?of seniors by promoting healthy aging, well-being, dignity and independence. We empower older adults as valued, contributing members of the community and together advocate for the diverse needs of seniors and their families throughout Ashland. VOLUNTEER…
Come spend a fall morning in Lithia Park while helping to care for this local treasure! On Sat, Oct 23, 9-11 a.m., we will be working alongside students from the Environmental Education Master’s Program at SOU for a joint park beautification work party. Volunteers will remove invasive species, help with trail upkeep, remove trash and more. Tools, gloves, snacks, and guidance will be provided. All ages are welcome.
After the event, the Environmental Education Master’s Program students will lead an educational activity in the park. If interested, please do RSVP to ensure adequate supplies for all. Join in regular restoration work parties at North Mountain Park on Thursdays from 9 to 11:00 a.m. Battle invasive species, plant native trees and shrubs and help care for this wonderful park. Tools and friendly training provided. Drop-ins welcome but join our email list to receive updates on timing and projects! Check the front porch of the Nature Center for info on where the work will be happening that day.
