How do you feel about the recent decision of City Council to not to connect Ashland city water to the Medford water supply?
Actually, the most recent decision is to do a study of the entire water system to see if the TAP project still makes sense in light of changes in our situation since the original study that recommend TAP. I agree with this and would make the case that we have to consider fundamental issues about how our main water source, the watershed and Hostler Dam, in particular, would function if our precipitation patterns shifted, for example from snow to rain, or to more extreme variations of wet and dry years. TAP is a back-up system and having multiple sources is especially important when facing a more unpredictable environment. But we need to look at TAP in the context of all our potential sources and especially the viability of our main source – and then get to work right away on the most pressing needs while we still have the resources to do it.
