Hi! I’m Melanie, founder of Waterleaf Farm & Florist since 2009. I love growing flowers on a beautiful piece of land now called Eagle Mill Land Conservancy. This community farm has been home to many sustainable farm and garden projects for over 40 years. One of my joys is sharing living plants with the Southern Oregon community, so I opened a self-serve, honor system summer and fall U-Pick flower garden.
Being in the gardens, we have the opportunity to watch flowers dance in the breeze, see the play of light, and watch hummingbirds drink nectar—these experiences nourish, uplift, and revitalize our souls. I love seeing people transform from stressed to relaxed and joyful after just five minutes in the garden. They head off to the rest of their day happy and calm, with flowers in hand.
Growing over 100 varieties of specialty flowers, this is not just any U-Pick farm. We cultivate a designer selection of gorgeous and heirloom varieties, several sourced from local seed companies like Siskiyou Seeds. We have dahlias, zinnias, sunflowers, marigolds, cosmos, celosia, amaranth, and many more blooming this summer. It’s enchanting to enter the U-Pick garden through an archway. Soon after, there is a circle where you can sit and soak up the beauty, surrounded by dahlias.
Part of the charm is that you can’t see the farm from the parking lot, but after walking down a rustic path, you are greeted by a vast, lush green, colorful oasis framed by trees surrounding the open fields. We are blessed to have Bear Creek’s flowing waters irrigate our crops. Often, people gasp when arriving at the farm and say, “Wow, it’s so magical and beautiful.” They delight in the surprise of this hidden gem in the heart of Ashland.
Delight yourself with a lunch break, after your weekend coffee, or during golden hour. Flowers in your home bring light and beauty to the space, adding joy and peace—so needed in these times.
Who doesn’t love flowers? They make a perfect gift for any occasion. And if you don’t have time to pick them yourself, we have a bouquet cooler stocked with ready-made arrangements.
