Discover the Natural World: Shop Local

The winter holidays are around the corner.  We want to take this time to encourage you to support locally-owned, independent businesses.  We are incredibly grateful to our loyal customers who support our family-run nature shop.  We here at the Northwest Nature Shop have been happily doing business for the last 28 years.  My parents, Mike and Kathy started the shop in 1985. I was 10 years old and my brothers were in high school when our parents took the risk to open a shop for the nature enthusiast – a place to encourage people to turn their backyards into sanctuaries for wildlife, to provide educational projects for parents to do with their children and nature guide books to learn about the world around us.  My parents always believed what the Nature Shop has to offer is good for the world.  They stressed that our business is one in which we must become a part of the community.  We are committed to providing products made locally and sustainably.  It feels good to support crafters and small companies who share our values of small business, family, and sustainable business practices. We are very thankful for all of you who have been such loyal customers through the years and allowed our business to thrive.

Please join us for our annual Holiday Open House on the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 29th from 12-4 p.m.  We will celebrate the fine, unique products and talents found in the northwest with wine, chocolate and cheese tasting, a magic show and delightful music provided by talented young fiddlers from Creekside Strings.

Don’t miss Magical Michael, who provides a great show full of humor and magic.  Year after year we watch the faces of kids and adults light up with smiles and laughter as they enjoy his entertaining magic show. Two shows will be offered at 1:30 and 3:00 p.m.

Shopping is a powerful tool that can shape the community in which we live.  Locally-owned, independent businesses keep dollars in Southern Oregon, produce and foster jobs with liveable wages, ensure creativity and innovation among its residents, choose products that specifically meet a local community’s needs, and help the environment by providing a diverse array of products within walking or biking distance.  Thank you for keeping Ashland vibrant and unique by supporting our wonderful locally-owned, independent businesses.

The Northwest Nature Shop is located at 154 Oak St. in Ashland.  See you soon!
