Fixing Neck Pain

Neck pain can be the result of many different circumstances, so it is important to recognize some of the differentiating mechanism of injury. If you’ve been in a car accident, regardless of fault or damage to your vehicle, you could have suffered a concussion. Skip to the bottom of the article and call for a free consultation. There are times, however, it is difficult to pinpoint a causative factor. Like, just waking up with a “crick-in-the-neck”, unable to turn the head maybe coupled with a headache, it’s plain dreadful. Why does this happen, we could easily point the finger at a lot modern conveniences like cell phones (text neck), craning the neck at the computer or even slouching on the couch watching the big game.

Sometimes the “crick” is self-limiting and resolves on it’s own. A go-to therapy would be ice. Gallon baggie filled with ice, applying 20min on/off for a single cycle. Another would be OTC analgesics, stretching, massage, physical therapy or chiropractic care.

Because ignoring the pain often lead to days, weeks and even months of worsening pain. The pain then can spread into the shoulders and upper back even under the shoulder blades. The body guards the misalignments by tightening down the muscles more and more making things worse and worse. Pain in the neck, shoulder and back can evolve into serious problems.

If the problems persist without resolution, it’s time to get a proper assessment of the craniocervical junction (CCJ), the critical area where the skull meets the top of the spine. The doctors at Rogue Valley Chiropractic clinic have in-depth training and knowledge in the AO and NUCCA techniques. If this important junction has been compromised, it is critical to get the proper correction.
