Let’s get to know the person behind the business and learn more about how Sheds, Sheds, Sheds can bring your vision to life.
Hi Shadrach, congratulations on your starting your new business here in Southern Oregon and welcome to LocalsGuide.
Thank you, I appreciate the opportunity to introduce myself and my business. I grew up in interior Alaska and lived in Ashland for just a couple of years in my early twenties. It was such a beautiful place, I often wished to move back here. Just last year, I made it a reality and moved from Tacoma, WA back to Ashland.
What inspired you to start Sheds Sheds Sheds! and how did you get into shed building?
I worked as a subcontractor for Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Costco installing their sheds and grew increasingly frustrated with the lack of quality. I realized I could build a better product for a cheaper price. Originally I started a shed business in Washington with a colleague and upon moving to Southern Oregon started Sheds Sheds Sheds!
What makes your sheds unique compared to ones you can buy at big box stores like Home Depot?
While Home Depot and the other box stores offer a convenient service, they can’t offer customized solutions. We offer a personalized experience that allows you to choose the options that best fit your needs and ultimately gives you a superior product tailored specifically to your home and needs while supporting a local business.
Customization is a big part of your business. What kinds of customizations can customers choose for their sheds?
Customers can choose between three different roof styles (gable, barn style, and mono slope). We offer a range of sizes from 4’x8’ up to 12’x28’. We can place windows and doors anywhere the customer would like. We build on site so we can place our sheds anywhere the customer would like, including tight fitting locations next to fence-lines.
How do you help customers decide on a shed design for their specific needs?
I offer a free onsite consultation to address the use of the shed, location, and space requirements. The first step is to determine the needs of the customers, whether it’s for simple storage, gardening, a yoga/meditation room, recording studio or small ADU for example. We then access location and ideal size to produce a design that reflects that vision.
What is the process of ordering a shed from you? Can you walk us through the steps from the consultation to installation?
Ordering a new shed is extremely simple! Once we have done a consultation to determine the customers needs, we create a design and set up a time that’s convenient for the customer. We then get to work building your new shed.
On average, how long does it take to build and deliver your shed?
Once a customer has decided to schedule a shed build, we typically get to a customer’s shed within a week of scheduling, depending on the season. The winter is actually a great time to schedule a shed build, as there is less wait time. I precut and prepare the materials for the project in my shop and most sheds are completed in a day.
Do you have any favorite projects you have worked on recently?
I recently built a 10’x14’ mono slope for a customer here in Ashland, who I met while fly fishing on Emigrant Lake. It was an interesting design we collaborated on. It had a 10’ front wall to more efficiently utilize the limited space available. We elevated the 10’ side on posts to accommodate the slope of his yard. This eliminated the need to remove yards of soil and saved the customer time and money.
Can you share a story or a few testimonials from a happy customer?
I had a customer who is a model train enthusiast. He had so many trains, and parts everywhere that it had begun to strain his marriage to the point where his wife said, “It’s either me or the trains!”
I never thought that one of my sheds could save a marriage. But, now his wife is happily living in the shed! Just kidding, but it is easy to see how excess clutter in and around our homes can present real problems.
What do you enjoy most about running Sheds Sheds Sheds!
The people! It’s nice working within a tight knit community and forming lasting relationships with my customers. It is also satisfying to see a completed project, and how it compliments their home and lifestyle.
What do you love most about living and working here?
The natural beauty of the area. There’s always something fun and interesting going on downtown and in the park.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not building sheds?
I’m an avid fly fisherman and bass angler. It’s awesome having Emigrant Lake and many other great fishing opportunities within just a couple hours of Ashland. I also spend quite a bit of time in my garden, hiking, kayaking, and exploring the natural beauty of the surrounding areas.
Finally, what’s the best way for readers to get in touch with you?
