Sweet September

September is here! We have made it through summer and are rounding the corner and heading into fall. Some of your garden spaces might have suffered a bit during the heat waves we had here in the Rogue Valley, or you may be looking to replace some plants that have basically just run their course. September is a great time to start planting for fall color.

Here at Ashland Greenhouses, we have been busy planting and stocking for fall. Our Pansies and Violas are in full bloom. Soon we will have our beautiful Pansy baskets available as well. We have assorted annuals available in 6-packs to add a pop of fresh color to your spaces and containers. Mums are a great fall flower, and we have lots of different colors to choose from. Asters are one of my absolute favorite fall plants that really do well in our area.

Fall vegetable starts are ready and looking incredible. We have Lettuce, Broccoli, Cauliflower, and Walla Walla Onions to name a few. Herbs are a hardy and delicious addition to any garden and do well grown in containers or in the ground. Herbs are drought tolerant and love the warm sunshine we still have this time of year.

If you’re like me and have concentrated on planting more perennials in your spaces, we have a large variety of perennials still available. Gaillardia, Guara, Agastache, Verbena, and several varieties of Salvias all do well as we hang on to a bit of summer heat.

Our retail store is stocked with succulents and fun metal garden art including seasonal items for fall. Be sure to check out our website at www.ashlandgreenhouses.com where you will find our availability list, hours, and location. As always please feel free to give us a call at 541-482-2866 or come by with any questions you may have or just to talk plants!
