We made it to June and what an incredible spring it has been so far. Early spring weather was so beautiful that we were able to get rocking and rolling at the Greenhouses a bit early this season with an amazing selection of vegetable starts, hanging baskets, annuals and perennials. Don’t worry if you haven’t come to see us yet, we are still fully stocked with beautiful plants!
June is a great time to plant both shade- and sun-loving annuals and perennials. Here at Ashland Greenhouses, we carry a large variety of annuals to add a bright and cheerful pop of color to all your garden spaces such as Zinnias, Marigolds, Salvias and my favorite, Portulaca. For your shaded areas we have an incredible selection of Begonias, trailing and upright Fuchsias, and Coleus.
Our perennials selection is really something to see, and they come in a variety of sizes from 4-inch pots up to 1-gallon pots. I have transitioned my own garden spaces to mostly perennials that I add pops of annual color to every season. A few of my absolute must haves in my garden are ‘Indian Summer’ Rudbeckia, ‘Pow Wow Wild Berry’ Echinacea and of course all varieties of Salvias. Make sure you stroll through “Gallon Land” here at the Greenhouses, where you will find gallons of Gaillardia, Black & Blue Salvia, Zinnias, Yarrow and much more.
As the season progresses and our gardens really start to show off, you may need to add soil amendments, treat pests, or you may decide you need more beautiful plants. The good news is Ashland Greenhouses is open through summer and into fall leading to our incredible Poinsettia Festival.
