WHAT’S SO GOOD ABOUT MASSAGE?

Today we’re speaking with Kimberly Hall, Licensed Massage Therapist  who works at Hidden Springs Wellness Center. In addition to massage she assists with the Seasonal Cleanses as well as services in the Holistic Health Spa.

Q.  So, tell us Kimberly…. What’s so good about massage?

A. First off, I think that most of us would agree that massage just plain feels good and secondly, research is showing us just how good it really is, both physically and mentally.  Massage has been around for thousands of years… I have to assume for as long as humans have been here.  Human touch is a compassionate and supportive  way to reach out to those in pain and stress.

Massage allows people to step out of the world for awhile, giving them a chance to let down and receive. When they step back in, they return happier, healthier and more relaxed. As one clients said, “Massage is one of my best investments. It’s investing in my vitality, relaxation and overall attitude. I feel more like giving to others after a massage. If everyone had regular massage it would change the world.”

Q. That all sounds good, can you tell us more about how massage helps one feel happier, healthier and more relaxed ?

A. Studies have shown that during massage endorphins are released, increasing feelings of happiness. White blood cells are also increased, strengthening the immune system. On the other hand, cortisol, a stress hormone, is decreased so anxiety dissipates leaving a person feeling more peaceful. Massage also helps lower blood pressure, increases circulation, improves recovery from injury, and enhances sleep.

Chris Cook, a Seasonal Cleanse participant had this to say, “The lymphatic massage I received from Kimberly was a much appreciated respite in the midst of a busy day. Not only did I feel my physiological pathways opening up and releasing toxins, I also experienced a deep sense of relaxation and tranquility.”

Q. How would you describe your work and what makes your massage so good?

A.  I have been involved in the healing arts for over 20 years including bodywork, emotional work and cleansing programs and I love what I do.  Each year I refine and expand my knowledge of massage modalities  by taking continuing education classes. These strengthen my foundation and give me more techniques and tools to use in my sessions with my wonderful clients.

Most sessions are for relaxation, some for pain relief and some for rejuvenation. I read the body through my hands physically and energetically to help assess what’s going on and I check in with the client to see what challenges may be up for them.  I  stay focused as  I work on key areas to release the knots and tension and  bring the person into a place of balance.  I have absolute faith in the healing power of the body… that as obstructions are removed, the life force flows with its own innate intelligence moving the blood and lymph, bringing sustenance to each cell, while carrying away the waste. The end result is a happier, healthier being.

“Kimberly’s massage is always a sacred and healing experience for me. She is able to create a space of peaceful, gentle, loving kindness that totally honors my whole Being – and enables it to move in whatever direction it needs at the time. I feel restored and happy in my body, mind and spirit. I ALWAYS walk away saying ‘Now that was a GREAT MASSAGE!!’ I am indeed one very happy and satisfied customer!”   D.B.

Q. Any last remarks?

A. As we go through life in these vehicles that we call our bodies, it’s important to keep them running as smoothly as possible. With regular massage we can enhance the function of the body from our first breath till our last. Babies who receive massage have been shown to develop more fully. For the elderly, who may feel isolated, the touch of massage can bring them more fully into their body, mind and community, at times reversing the symptoms of dementia. All ages benefit from massage.

Hopefully all of this has educated you to the gifts of massage and inspired you to take even better care of yourself and loved ones…  sign up for a session today!
