Hello Ashland!
Since establishing Jade Mountain Medicine in 2006, we have been providing comprehensive health care to the Rogue Valley community. More recently, we have been visioning how we can improve the Jade Mountain clinical experience, and provide more services. Over the past several years, both Kara and I have been exploring different aspects of health and medicine, increasing the number of tools in our toolboxes, and delving deeply into the areas that invoke our passions and inspire us. Although Jade Mountain has been a central theme in our lives, in the past several years we have been a part of many projects and have contributed to many organizations and businesses outside of Jade Mountain. All of these experiences have been enriching, and have deepened our perspectives on health and medicine.
More than ever, we are inspired to refocus our energy on the clinic, where people know they can come, sip a cup of hot tea, and plan out their healing journey. Whether people are facing chronic disease, an increased burden of mental/emotional stress, a recent injury, or any number of health issues that might be ailing them, the Jade Mountain team is here to help!
Over the next 3 months we’ll be introducing our new practitioners and staff members, while also sharing a more detailed look at our specialties, areas of expertise, and our clinic. As always, our primary goal is to provide comprehensive, collaborative health care to our community, and to be a source of knowledge that bridges the wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine with the advances of modern medical science.
Jason’s current interests and focus:
Jason’s primary focus has been on the collaborative management of patients with cancer and chronic disease. Over the past 2 years, Jason has devoted a large part of his time to the development of the Mederi Academy with his long-time collaborator, Donnie Yance. The Mederi Academy is an extensive online training program providing education to practitioners interested in the collaborative management of patients with cancer. He also created his short documentary film, “Cancer Culture,” with local film-maker Gary Lundgren. Although he will be continuing to devote a large portion of his time and focus to cancer and chronic disease, with the start of the new year, Jason is returning to the clinic to provide more of the unique, physical medicine that he has been developing over the past 20 years.
Kara’s current interests and focus:
Kara’s primary passion, over the length of her career, has been to provide comprehensive reproductive healthcare to women of all ages. Her areas of expertise include: pregnancy, pre and post-partum care, infertility, menstrual irregularities, PMS and hormonal imbalances, perimenopause and menopause.
In the last few years she has also expanded her education and experience in the field of mental health with a focus on anxiety and depression. She has been working directly with teenagers and young adults both in and out of the clinic, and has witnessed profound transformation among people of all ages she has worked with. Kara brings awareness, compassion and deep personal understanding while providing safe, gentle and effective mental-emotional support to her patients.
