Medford Taekwondo Students Dominate National Qualifier Held in San Jose, CA This Weekend

Medford, OR, May 12, 2009 –(atctaekwondo.com)– Five Taekwondo students from ATC Taekwondo in Medford nearly swept their divisions this past weekend at the 2009 San Jose Taekwondo National Qualifier. The event drew hundreds of competitors from several states vying for a spot at Nationals, including 2008 US Olympic Team member, Charlotte Craig.

Out of a possible 10 gold medals, the Medford students brought home four golds, five silver and one bronze. Alexa Lowe, 11, competed in the black belt division. Lowe won gold in forms competition and silver in sparring; losing to the 2007 & 2008 National Champion by one last-minute point in the championship final round. Gianna Isola, 11, won gold in forms competition and silver in sparring in the red belt division. Joshua Mondragon, 8, won gold in sparring and silver in forms in the blue belt division. Teighlor Traistor, 10, won gold in sparring and silver in forms. Aloha Kaeo-Wailehua, 8, took home the silver in sparring and bronze in forms the blue belt division.

The San Jose National Qualifier was one of five qualifiers held around the country. All five students now move on to the Junior Olympic Nationals to be held in Austin, TX June 30 – July 6, 2009.
