Oregon Cabaret Theatre Puts on its Dancing Shoes for Ginger Rogers Musical Backwards in High Heels
Ginger Rogers danced her way into our hearts in the arms of Fred Astaire, setting the gold standard for grace and elegance on the silver screen. In her surprising true-life story, we follow her from the vaudeville stage at the age of 15 through her ascension to Hollywood goddess.
Backwards in High Heels is the story of a small-town girl from Texas who dazzled the whole wide world, playing everything from ‘the girl next door’ to the modern woman with a mind of her own. It’s a spectacular candy box of show-stopping dance numbers, great songs, and some surprising revelations about a movie legend.
Under the direction of Christopher George Patterson this production features six actors playing a multitude of roles. Kelsey Stalter plays Ginger Rogers and Renee Hewitt is her mother, Lela. Performers Christie Dabreau, John Ramsey, Robert Altman and Tim Fuchs juggle multiple roles to bring to life the many people who are a part of Rogers’ life story.
Backwards in High Heels plays at the Oregon Cabaret Theatre from September 12th through November 9th.
Performances are Thursdays through Mondays at 8:00p.m., Sunday matinees at 1:00pm and previews on September 10th and 11th at 8pm. Dinner and brunch reservations required; appetizers, beverages and desserts available without reservations.
