22nd Annual Lithia Artisans Christmas Faire Thanksgiving Weekend

The Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland is thrilled to announce its 22nd Annual Christmas Faire at the Historic Ashland Armory over Thanksgiving Weekend. Timed to run in conjunction with Ashland’s Festival of Lights, this long standing tradition is a wonderful opportunity to support local folks by purchasing gifts directly from the makers themselves. For over 20 years this show has brought out the best of our community.

This year’s event takes place November 29 – December 1, Friday 10-7, Saturday 10-6, and Sunday 11-4. The old Armory comes alive with art and music on the corner of Oak and B Streets, two blocks from Downtown Ashland. There are over 40 artists and crafts-folk showing their works in this beautiful, historic setting.

“Coming back to the Historic Ashland Armory feels like coming home. So many folks come into town to be with family and loved ones this time of the year. They meet up at this show.”

“It is my honor to help showcase this incredibly talented group of artists during the holidays. The folks who make up this guild make my job a joy,” said market manager Marcus Scott.

The photo on the front page features veteran market member Amy Godard. She is a native Ashlander, a rare gem indeed. Amy’s work is iconic.

Simple symbolic images convey timeless messages. Block print original images are also available as t-shirts in limited quantities. Everything is made by hand with love.

Lots of old faces meet new friends as the market community is always evolving. New members and products keep the show fresh. Here is a small sampling of the 44 artisans showing this year at the Christmas Faire.

One of our newest members is actually a family of artists. Maya, Rain, and Ember Youngstrom hail from Williams, Oregon. Ember, the daughter of Maya and Rain, makes hand painted, one-of-a-kind greeting cards. Mom and Dad make pottery together. Their pieces are unique as they make all their own glazes from scratch. They are constantly fiddling with combinations of minerals to find those elusive colors, patterns and textures.

Tim Hallam is a landscape photographer whose work continues to evolve and reach new heights. Tim spends hours in the field seeking those perfect moments when the conditions are just right and creative magic happens.

Tamlyn McDonald creates unique and beautiful beaded jewelry. Her pieces are stunning and must be seen in person to truly appreciate the intricately woven patterns. She shares a booth with her daughter Madalynn Massey of Mad Ceramics. Their booth is jam packed with cool things.

Gene Nawrocki makes leather belts that will last a lifetime. He does all the work by hand, starting with a full cowhide and working down to a hand embossed finished belt. He has been at it for 47 years. Join Gene and 43 other artists as they bring their finest quality handcrafted items to the 22nd Annual Christmas Faire.

Live music accompanies the festivities and entry to the show is free. For more information visit our website lithiaartisansmarket.com, or follow the market on our Facebook page where we always give you the most up to date information about our weekly schedule. facebook.com/lithiaartisansmarket
