Obamacare Enrollment at Record-Breaking High! Two Weeks Left to Enroll For 2018

Open Enrollment for the Federal Healthcare Marketplace is almost OVER! I want to thank all of you who have taken action so far. Healthcare for all Americans should not be a political football- but at this point in history it is. Working together, we are making our voices heard. Let’s keep it up until we reach the end zone.
December 15th is the FINAL deadline
In past years, the sign up period has been from November 1- January 31. Four months. This year, the sign up period is from October 31- December 15. Six weeks only!
THIS YEAR SUBSIDIES FOR THOSE WHO QUALIFY ARE HIGHER THAN EVER!
It is no secret that the Federal Marketplace has been under attack by congress and the executive branch of our government. You would be forgiven for assuming that your insurance costs will be through the roof this year- but you might well be mistaken.
STATE OF OREGON TO THE RESCUE!
It might sound counterintuitive, but state regulators actually paved the way for more tax credits to flow to Oregonians when they responded to recent executive orders by further raising the price of 2018 silver policies sold on the individual market by 7.1% beyond the increases they had approved over the summer. That’s because the federal government bases the amount of subsidy it pays on the price of a region’s lowest cost silver policy. This has created lower premiums for everyone who qualifies for a subsidy. Some people are signing up for Bronze plans that cost LESS THAN A DOLLAR a month. Many have been surprised to see their rates going down. Some have been signing up for Gold plans that are only a few dollars more than silver plans. It’s been pretty amazing.
DON’T QUALIFY FOR A SUBSIDY?
On the other hand, those who don’t qualify or subsidies are in a tough spot. The prices are steep. Those in this position are absorbing the full brunt of the political attacks on Obamacare.
