Meet the Maker – Potter and Soap Maker Ashley Ambrosio

Ashley Ambrosio is one of the newest members of the Lithia Artisans Market. She hails from the small ski-resort town of Kimberley, British Columbia. Her hometown is famous for alpine skiing and tourism. It is surrounded by beautiful mountains and full of friendly folks. No wonder she feels right at home here in Ashland.

Ashley is both a potter and a soap maker. She has been making earth conscious soaps since 2009. After testing her creations on friends and family she got brave and juried into her first farmers market in Steveston Village in Richmond, B.C. Her new craft business now had legs.

In 2015 she took a pottery class at the Community Center in Vancouver and was immediately hooked. She had found another craft that she was equally passionate about.

In 2017 she took time off to explore Europe. In Positano, Italy, along the Amalfi Coast, she met a young American named Neil. She knew immediately that there was something special going on. What a beautiful place to fall in love.

Upon returning to North America she and Neil reconnected in Tucson, Arizona where the two of them started to create a life together. While living in Tucson she volunteered her time teaching pottery classes at the local Tucson Clay Cooperative.

In 2020 the pandemic hit and the co-op shut its doors, like so many art collectives. Undaunted, she bought her own kiln from a Craigslist ad and started working at home. Their home was on the corner of Spring Street and Vine Street so she aptly named her business “Spring and Vine.”

In 2022 she applied online for a P.E. teaching position at the middle school in Ashland, Oregon. She got the job and they moved to

Ashland.

In the Spring of 2024 she went through the jury process and became a new member of the Lithia Artisans Market.

“What I love about my life in Ashland is the balance I have found. I get to embrace all of my passions, the kids at school, my husband Neil, my love of natural soap, and my love of pottery.”

Ashley is now a dual citizen of both Canada and the United States.

Join her and dozens of other talented artisans every Saturday and Sunday in front of Lithia Park and along Calle Guanajuato in Downtown Ashland at the Lithia Artisans Market.
