Schedule Changes for Drop in & Draw
Drop in & Draw, the after school drop-in art workshop for children ages 6+ has been a cornerstone of the Rogue Gallery & Art Center’s education program for kids since it was established in the 1980s. In recent years, the Drop in & Draw after school workshop has taken place on Wednesday afternoons allowing children a creative, fun, messy, explorative art class providing Rogue Valley families with a safe, affordable after school option for their creative children on a day when they were released from school at 1:30 in the afternoon.
Recently, Medford School District announced that for the upcoming school year, school on Wednesdays will be out at 3:30, not 1:30 as in previous years, and in exchange, they will be shaving days off the school year.
In response, Drop in & Draw will be moving from our traditional Wednesday afternoon slot, and instead we will be hosting Drop in & Draw on weekdays that the district has scheduled no school, from 9 am to 1 pm. (A complete listing of these dates are below.) The program will stay the same in many ways: parents will still be invited to stay and participate or to drop children off, the price will still be $3/hour, we will still offer interactive hands-on projects with instructor Eva Fawcett, and the class will still be open to school age children 6+ (and their younger siblings 4 and up if accompanied by a parent).
New Drop Off & Draw Date Night
In addition, we will be adding a new program for children ages 6 to 12, the Drop Off & Draw Date Night- where parents can pre-register their children for a special session of Drop in & Draw 2nd Friday of every month from 5 to 8 pm, here in the gallery classroom. Instructor Eva Fawcett will be here to provide the children with art instruction, and keep them busy with fun art projects in a variety of mediums, and allow parents a “Date Night†by dropping off their children and returning for them at 8 pm. Every 2ndFriday of the month, we’ll host new and different projects to entertain and amuse children while their parents slip out for an evening out. Pre registration will be required for this class, and the price will be $15 per child. We expect this class will fill quickly, so parents should register early to secure their spot- registration for Fall session (Sept – Dec) will open on August 25th.

These AFFORDABLE one-day workshops are designed to glean skills and technique, while creating unique and quality items which can be given as holiday gifts:
Weaving for Kids Dec 12th Saturday 1-4 pm
A day of weaving holiday gifts for kids with instructor Eva Fawcett. Participants will learn to make simple looms, and create woven objects such as: small “gos-eye†ornaments, chain scarves, recycled plastic crocheted items, Ipod pockets, change purses, and more. Students will be able to take home unfinished projects to complete, and looms to continue to practice and create with. Ages 7-13 Pre-registration required COST: $35 members $40 non-members (+8 materials fee)
Bookbinding for Families Nov 21st Saturday 10am—2 pm
A class for kids and their parents (or grandparents!) to learn simple bookbinding techniques while creating custom garden journals, photo albums, sketch books, re-fillable post-it notebooks, and notepads for holiday gift-giving. Kids and Teens ages 10—17 are welcome to attend this class solo, Kids ages 7-9 will require a parent or gradparent to accompany them. COST: $50 members $60 non-members (+15 materials) OR $75 member parent/child team $85 non-member parent/child team (+$15 materials per person)
