A New Year… A New Place to Call Home
“There is life after retirement, and it is BETTER.” (Catherine Pulsifer)
It is 2020! Some will welcome the New Year with promises or resolutions to be kept. Some will start this New Year with the addition of new family members. Some will plan a vacation trip of a lifetime. No matter how we “ring in the New Year,” for all of us it is a fresh start.
The new year will bring us new challenges and new rewards. It will bring happiness and sometimes sadness. It will be the year that many make the decision to move their families to new locations. For some, it is the year to retire and enjoy the beginning of the “golden years.”
“Retirement” has changed greatly over the years. Retirees today still desire to work part-time and call their own hours. They may want to alternate work with leisure time. Retirees today want to remain active and continue with the bicycle tours, the tennis court challenges, and keeping physically fit. They desire to keep their minds active with continued education opportunities like OLLI offers in Ashland or by listening to presentations of local authors.
For some, retirement is more a transition to a new place where there are like-minded people who enjoy life and wish to live where life is made simpler. Retirement may be a change from the regular schedule of working an 8-hour day to working from home when you choose to. Retirement for some is a lifestyle… fun, invigorating, yet simple.
Mountain Meadows 55+ Community has a unique lifestyle all its own. If gardening is a passion, there is a community garden with raised garden beds. If fitness is important, the fabulous equipment in the wellness/fitness center will meet almost every need. There is an indoor pool to enjoy those morning swims. Many residents of this community are enrolled in continuing education at the Southern Oregon University OLLI program. Some residents have even been instructors of some of the courses. Perhaps reading is a passion…there is an incredible library with a warm and inviting fireplace nearby. Say you enjoy activities and keeping busy? There are Friday Forums taught by residents or Music at the Meadows, which showcases local artists or an invigorating Bridge game, or maybe movie night in the clubhouse and the list goes on!
It is a new year and all of us at Mountain Meadows 55+ Community wish you the very best in 2020. A New Year… A New Place to Call Home… in Ashland.
