Upcoming exciting events at Northwest Nature Shop

Spring is almost here and we at The Northwest Nature Shop have many great classes, workshops, and hikes lined up for the upcoming months.  We consider ourselves more than a special shop to find hiking guides and maps, gifts to beautify your home and garden, eco-friendly products for home and travel and incredible toys that have long lasting play value.  We also aim to cultivate a community that values and protects our natural environment.  Throughout the year, The Northwest Nature Shop offers classes, field trips and presentations given by experienced birders, writers and naturalists.  We invite those just beginning to discover the natural world as well as the life-long avid nature enthusiasts to come into the Northwest Nature Shop and see what events we have coming up.

Get into Birds! Bird Walk to Ashland Pond
March 8th 8 am – Free

Birds have a unique ability to inspire and delight us. They connect us with nature, with the passage of seasons, and with each other. Bird-watching has become the most popular outdoor activity in the US with an estimated 50 to 80 million participants.  There’s a wonderful world just waiting to be explored, so get into birds!

Join Northwest Nature Shop as we visit Ashland Pond, an Ashland birding hotspot.  Waterfowl, raptors, and possible river otter and beaver sightings will round out the morning. Expect about 2 miles of walking on gentle paths.  Please bring binoculars if you have them and look forward to an enjoyable excursion into the wonderful world of birds!

Spring is the perfect time to build a birdhouse. Birds are a valuable resource for gardeners, birdwatchers and farmers, aiding in insect control and pollination of plant varieties.
