My roommates and I were supposed to see Chesterfield @ Johnny B’s in Medford last night, but the drums weren’t even set up at 9:30 PM.  Admittedly, it was my first time at JB’s—I’m going well after 10 PM next time. 

Meghan noticed a crowd at Jackson Creek Pizza a couple blocks down, so we stopped in.  JCP hosts an all ages open mic on Thursdays, with local musician Frankie Hernandez on MC duties.  I didn’t know that, but it was obviously well known to high school kids.  Standing room only.  The girls wanted cocktails (specifically, a “red headed slut”), and JCP only pours beer, so we drove to Ashland to catch Analog Kabin @ Alex’s.

Analog Kabin is a three-piece psychedelic jam band, fronted by Craig Wright.  You might know Wright from The Horsefeathers, open mics, or his fiction writing classes at SOU.  Maybe you’re one of those kids who show up on his lawn at 3 AM with a great idea or a party. 

Oh yeah, Craig says knock that off.

 

I missed Monk, the newest incarnation of Adam Evolve/The Service Animals/Joey and the Ragetones.  Driving around Medford.  Sigh.

If anyone actually cares, a red headed slut is:

1 oz peach schnapps

1 oz herbal liqueur (chartreuse, strega, izarra…)

1 oz cranberry juice

Meghan liked it.  Sophie liked it.  I thought it was red, and it tasted like red: meh.  Mehgan bought me a Guinness, bless her heart.
