On Saturday, October 5, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Bear Creek Salmon Festival returns! This admission-free festival will feature all-ages interactive workshops and exhibits focusing on improving salmon habitat in our region and on watershed stewardship in our own homes and yards. NEW – Explore Bear Creek and North Mountain Park while attending outdoor mini workshops taught by local experts on topics ranging from composting to how and where to look for spawning salmon in Bear Creek. Outdoor workshops include: Composting Demonstration; Riparian (streamside) Bird Walk; How, When and Where to View Spawning Salmon in Bear Creek; Bear Creek Habitat Restoration Tour; Laundry to Landscape: Greywater Irrigation Workshop; Water Safe Car Wash Kit Demonstration; Riparian Plant Walk.
Experience a variety of fun outdoor activities such as fly or spin-casting, Native American drumming and story-telling. Enjoy a lineup of musical entertainment including Montana Soul, Sonic Kaleidoscope Marimbas and more. Food concession will be provided by ever popular Fulcrum Dining.

Watershed Exploration Days Kick Off
Mark your calendars! Bear Creek Watershed Exploration Days kicks off in September with a full calendar of events aimed at raising awareness about the Bear Creek Watershed. Activities range from salmon viewing to rain harvesting to river clean-up and tree planting events. Festivals, hikes, activities and classes take place at various locations across Jackson County and run into the late fall. Participating organizations include many local agencies and organizations who are actively engaged in watershed education and issues.
Throughout the late summer and fall, volunteer community organizations, educators and other groups are encouraged to join in to learn about the importance of watersheds at the grassroots and community levels. All are welcome to come and explore the natural wonders of our watershed with fun tours, workshops and events. Most of the activities are free and open to the public, though several of the classes and tours require pre-registration.
