LOVE
February is the month known for LOVE, for us dirt smelling, seed hoarding, sun seeking gardeners, February is the month of anticipation and impatience. That deep feeling in your soul to connect with the outdoors, to walk barefoot in your garden and get dirt under your nails. What is that feeling that drives us every season, that flutter in our stomachs, that excitement? It feels like LOVE!
As a child the outdoors was a wondrous place filled with noises, animals, discovery, and everything was new to you. As we get older it can be a challenge to see the wonder of the world around you. Gardening brings that wonder back in our lives. We start our seeds, prepare our soil (aka play in the dirt), plant our starts, and are filled with anticipation and wonder. Throughout the season our labors of LOVE become a haven of food, flowers, sunshine and life.
Plants have a “Love Language” all of their own. A red Carnation speaks volumes.. “Alas my poor heart,” Coreopsis “always cheerful,” a scarlet Geranium for “comforting.” Growing a cut flower garden creates an opportunity to grow different flowers and to learn their love language. It truly is a labor of LOVE that brings me great joy. Gifting colorful fresh bouquets to family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers, fills my soul with LOVE.
Valentines’ Day falls in February; our beautiful Cyclamen in shades of pink, red, white, and fuchsia are a perfect gift for a friend, a teacher, co-worker, or for yourself. The love we have for what we do shines through in the quality and beauty of our plants. This season of love will be in full bloom with new varieties of plants, a larger perennial selection, free classes and events, and much more!
