Save, Time, Money and Frustration

It’s year two for open enrollment on the Healthcare Exchange, and many people are wondering what’s up with their health insurance. Some have received notices from insurance carriers, informing them that their current policies will no longer be offered. Others have been surprised to discover that they must re-enroll, starting from scratch, after what was often a difficult process, just last year. Let’s take a look at what the fall has in store for us.

Healthcare Exchange Enrollment Facts

Cover Oregon will no longer be overseeing the Healthcare Exchange in Oregon.

Oregonians will now participate in the Federal Healthcare Exchange: HealthCare.gov

Open enrollment is from November 15, 2014 to February 15, 2015

To avoid a lapse in coverage, enroll no later than December 15, 2014

There is a fee for not signing up- 2% of income or $325 adult/$165 child, whichever is higher

Moving to Healthcare.gov

The Federal Exchange enters it’s sophomore year this fall, after a rocky debut, in 2013. There is a lot of helpful information on the site, although nothing on Oregon policies has yet appeared. One thing we do know is that free assistance is available to everyone who is enrolling. More on that below.

Save, Time, Money and Frustration- While Supporting an Independent, Local Business

Here’s how it works: During our free consultation, I assist you in choosing a policy, and filing your application online. My compensation comes directly from the insurance company that you take a policy from. This diverts insurance company dollars into our local economy- dollars that otherwise will pass our community by, should you choose to file without assistance. And, as we know, when a local business earns a dollar, typically 45 cents of that dollar will be spent at other local businesses, thereby sharing the wealth and enriching our own economy. This is a great opportunity to convert multinational insurance company dollars into Ashland dollars, while receiving a valuable professional service for free. So what are you waiting for?
